BEST AV PROJECT IN LATINOAMÉRICA: INTEGRACIÓN AV SAS

For 2024, the CALA AWARDS will recognize the best audiovisual and lighting system projects and installations carried out in Latin America during the past year within the framework of IntegraTEC Mexico. The deadline for project applications is FRIDAY, July 12 at 5:00 p.m., Mexico time.

The winner of the CALA AWARDS FOR BEST AV PROJECT IN LATIN AMERICA 2024 and the winner of the IALD lighting category award will be announced at IntegraTEC Mexico, which will take place in mid-August.

SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR THE WINNING PROJECT

A jury of industry experts will analyze the submitted projects and select three finalists from each category.
The winner of the 2024 edition of the CALA AWARDS FOR BEST AV PROJECT IN LATIN AMERICA and the winner of the IALD lighting award will be chosen from among the five finalists through virtual voting, which will take place from July 31 to August 14, 2024. The voting will be conducted through the websites of AVI LATINOAMÉRICA magazine, IntegraTEC, and IALD.

RECOGNITION

A representative of each finalist integrator company will be invited to Mexico, with airfare and accommodation covered by the CALA AWARDS organization, to participate in IntegraTEC Mexico. During the event, the representatives will take part in a panel discussion on the industry in the region and attend the awards ceremony.

The winners of the CALA AWARDS FOR BEST AV PROJECT IN LATIN AMERICA 2024 and the IALD lighting award will receive:

- Recognition trophy.

• Article in AVI LATINOAMÉRICA magazine highlighting the installation and the winning company.
• Access to exclusive networking: An invitation to exclusive networking events organized by the CALA AWARDS, where the winner can interact with other industry professionals and establish valuable connections.
• Presentation opportunity: The chance to present the winning project at a relevant conference or event, sharing experiences and knowledge with other community members.

Award Methodology for the CALA AWARDS in the Lighting Category, Presented by IALD The CALA AWARDS in the lighting category, presented by the IALD, aims to recognize excellence in lighting design projects in Mexico. To ensure integrity and impartiality in the awarding process, the following methodology has been established:

1. Call for Entries and Selection of Participants

1.1. Eligibility

• The call is open to companies and design teams with IALD certification that have completed lighting projects in Mexico during the past year.
• Projects must demonstrate an innovative and creative approach to lighting design, considering aspects such as energy efficiency, functionality, and aesthetic impact.

1.2. Documentation

Participants must submit the following documentation:

• Completed registration form.
• High-quality photographs of the completed project.
• Copy of the IALD certification of the design team.

1.3. Submission Deadline

Projects must be submitted by July 8 through the official IntegraTEC website.
2. Initial Evaluation

2.1. Selection Committee

A selection committee composed of experts in lighting design and IALD members will be responsible for reviewing all received proposals.

PARAMETERS:

The IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers) considers a wide variety of lighting projects for their awards, ranging from architectural lighting to light art and sustainability projects. These projects can include lighting for buildings, interiors, events, art, and sustainable approaches. Each project is evaluated based on its excellence in design, innovation, energy efficiency, and its ability to meet the objectives of the client and the illuminated space.

- The submitted proposal must not be more than two years old at the closing date of the competition.
- Each participating entity or company may submit only one project.
- The materials submitted for participation may be freely used by the organization for promotional and dissemination purposes.

2.2. Evaluation Criteria

Projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

- Innovation: Originality and creativity in lighting design.
- Creativity: Effective application of lighting to create unique and memorable environments.
- Energy efficiency: Implementation of sustainable and environmentally friendly lighting solutions.
- Achievement of Objectives: Successful fulfillment of the lighting project’s objectives.
- Aesthetics: Positive and harmonious visual impact on the illuminated space.

2.3. Selection of Finalists

Based on the evaluation criteria, the selection committee will choose two finalist projects to advance to the next stage.

3. Presentation of Finalists

3.1. Announcement of Finalists

The two finalist projects will be publicly announced on the CALA AWARDS website and official social media platforms. Presentations should be clear, concise, and highlight the most relevant aspects of each project.

4. Open and Technical Voting

4.1. Open Voting

- An online open voting will be conducted for a specified period.
- The general public can vote for their favorite lighting project among the two finalists.
- Open voting aims to engage the community and recognize public opinion on excellence in lighting design.

4.2. Technical Evaluation

The panel of judges will evaluate the finalist projects using specific criteria for excellence in lighting design, including:

- Mastery of lighting design principles and techniques.
- Appropriate application of lighting to achieve project objectives.
- Effective selection of luminaires and control systems.
- Harmonious integration of lighting with architecture and interior design.
- Consideration of visual comfort, safety, and maintenance aspects.

4.3. Vote Weighting

The final result will be determined by considering both the open voting and the technical evaluation by the panel of judges. A specific percentage will be assigned to each voting category to determine the final score for each project.

5. Determination of the Winner
5.1. Calculation of the Final Score
The final score for each project will be calculated using the following formula:

Final Score = (Percentage of Open Voting * Public Votes) + (Percentage of Technical Evaluation * Judges’ Score)**

5.2. Selection of the Winner
The project with the highest final score will be declared the winner of the CALA AWARDS in the lighting category, presented by IALD.
